WO HA LI - Songs for the Circle - Volume 1
and
YONA - Songs for the Circle - Volume 2
by Clear Water

"WOHALI" (Eagle in Cherokee) and "YONA" (Bear in Cherokee), Clear Water's latest CD's, are collections of original powwow style "Eastern Drum" music sung in Cherokee. Clear Water, comprised of husband and wife team Spyder and Tekakwitha Webb (Cherokee) sing to the accompaniment of the big Abba drum: songs that honor and praise Creator-Father, Creator-Son, and Creator-Spirit. Written in a haiku-like style, the lyrics pour our thoughts, feelings, praise and heart cries to the Creator. Clear Water's music is a contemporary expression of Native culture, which is a living, growing, changing reflection of Native peoples. Like the powwow culture itself, which continues to grow and evolve, Clear Water's music is rooted in and emerges from the traditions of the past - honoring them, while expressing those traditions in new ways as times change. WOHALI is structured like a powwow, starting with a calling song, Grand Entry, and so on to the closing song. YONA is an all new collection of original powwow style music.
